Why You Shouldn't Use the "Boost Post" Button on Facebook

The Facebook boost post button seems like a great way to reach out to a new audience and hope for new customers to enter your business, however, all you’ll be doing is spending lots of money and getting nowhere near the results you we're expecting.

If your business has a Facebook page, it’s likely you’ve seen the “Boost Post” button under the statuses you post, and you may have even used this tool. However, you may have been disappointed at the results due to lack of increased business, and there are many reasons for this.

When you press the “Boost Post” button, Facebook automatically chooses the reach campaign objective. This is used to reach the maximum amount of people possible, even people who may not have an interest in your business, and even if this is your objective you still don’t get to control where the ads are placed on Facebook. For example, ads can be placed on the Facebook feed or the right column, and it's the right column which has a very low conversion rate. This means you’re wasting so much of your ad spend on showing your ad to people who may not have an interest in your business, or may just stroll past your ad because they haven’t noticed it on the right column, but you still get charged!
